Instructor Qualification Course

Swindon - Sunday 11th January 2026


Instructor Qualification: Open to Dan grades aged 18+.

Assistant Instructor Qualification: Open to Red belts (2nd kup) aged 16+ or Blue belts (4th kup) aged 18+. (NB. Younger students aged 14+ are allowed to participate at their instructor's discretion).

 

Do you have what it takes to teach Taekwondo?

This 1-day Instructor Course by Global Tae Kwon-Do International (GTI) provides essential knowledge and skills for instructors, assistant instructors, and those beginning their teaching journey.


The first part is about learning the theory of teaching and how to maximise the learning of the student, including:


  • Health & Safety essentials in a martial arts environment
  • Safeguarding responsibilities and awareness
  • Structuring and delivering effective lessons
  • Understanding learning styles and student development
  • Effective communication and presentation
  • Practical teaching methods and classroom management
  • Handling common situations


This course includes group discussion, scenario-based learning, and interactive activities.
This 1-day course provides the essential foundation required to step into an instructor role. It covers the minimum legal and practical requirements — including health and safety, safeguarding, basic lesson structure and delivery, an introduction to learning styles, and key communication and presentation skills.


Drinks will be available, but please bring along a packed lunch. You will also require your dobok & belt, safety equipment, and a pen and paper.

Umpire & Referee Qualification Course

Liverpool - Sunday 12th January 2025


The GTI Tournament Umpire and Referee Course is open to GTI and non-GTI members.


Course Description:  This FREE one day course is open to any TKD red belt (2nd kup) aged 16+ or blue belts (4th kup) aged 18+. Completing the course will enable you to develop the required skills to become a competent official at GTI competitions.


The blue Umpire and red Referee officials’ polo-shirts are issued upon completion of the required follow up training which involves officiating, under the supervision of a senior official, at a minimum of three GTI events to gain the relevant experience required.


Drinks will be available, but please bring along a packed lunch. You will also require your dobok & belt, safety equipment, and a pen and paper.
