GTI Charity Events 2016 Roundup – over £4,800 raised this year!

GTI Charity Events 2016 Roundup – over £4,800 raised this year!

Master Cockburn and Mr McGinley had the privilege of delivering a cheque for £2,710 to Leicester Hospital’s Leukaemia Unit before Christmas.  The money was raised as part of GTI Charity events throughout 2016, and represents only a small amount of the money raised by GTI clubs for their chosen causes.

This particular cheque went towards the Leukaemia Ward’s physio-rehabilitation  stock, providing patients with weights, a chair to transport patients in and cooling fans that help calm stressful situations. Physical therapy is seen as an important part in the process for the recovery of patients. The money was raised in memory of Jayne Cockburn who sadly passed away last year but was keen to ensure that others would benefit from the GTI’s annual fund raising efforts.

The £2,710 was raised through various fundraising events including the annual GTI 100 x 1 min Rounds of Sparring, 22 mile Bridgnorth Walk, a Lego Brick ‘Fire Walk’ and collection buckets/tins at other events.  Particular thanks go out to the students of GTI Hinckley, GTI Excalibur Martial Arts (aka GTI Bridgnorth A), Mr Colin Parker (of GTI Crewe) as well as all those who supported the events by either joining in, financially or simply getting attendees to the chosen venue.  There will be another chance to join in the GTI Charity 100 Rounds of Sparring later in 2017 for your chosen charities.

The GTI Charity 100 Rounds of Sparring 2016 also raised funds for:

£324.30 for Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice – thanks to GTI Liverpool Halewood clubs

£315 for the Evelyn Mae Fund and £1287 for  SANDs UK – thanks to GTI Bridgnorth B

£130 for Marie Curie – thanks to a number of individual GTI students

£40 for Help For Heroes – thanks to a number of individual GTI students

That’s a whopping £4,806.30 raised by GTI students in 2016!  An amazing achievement – well done everyone!
